Amalfi, nestled between the azure sea and rocky mountains, is a jewel of the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy. With its quaint narrow streets, breathtaking views and historic center rich in history and charm, Amalfi is one of the few towns in Italy to have embraced the Cittaslow philosophy. Among the virtues that allow it to be part of the list of so-called 'slow cities' are its focus on environmental sustainability and the promotion of responsible tourism, which aims to preserve and enhance the local resources and peculiarities of the area. Amalfi's ancient paper-making tradition, delicious culinary specialties, festivals related to local products, and local activities such as trekking, guided tours of paper kilns, and boat excursions offer a 360-degree tourist experience that engages the senses and awakens the conscience. Visit Amalfi and discover a new way of experiencing tourism that is slow, sustainable and conscious.

Celebrations in honor of St. Andrew the Apostle
St. Andrew the Apostle is the patron saint of the City of Amalfi, which celebrates him twice a year: on June 27 and November 30.
The Nov. 30 feast, which follows the June 27 feast that Amalfi celebrates motu proprio, falls on the day the Catholic Church calendar celebrates the apostle. The Feast of St. Andrew is the most beloved event for Amalfi residents and nonresidents alike. Everyone tries to be present in the Piazza Duomo to await the exit of the splendid bronze statue of the apostle Andrew from the majestic cathedral, world-famous for its beauty. The effigy of the saint is accompanied in procession through the streets of Amalfi, giving the faithful and visitors moments of excitement and discovery of the town’s most hidden and oldest heart. The one linked to the rites of faith and devotion to its patron. Accompanied by the faithful and the band, the procession after crossing the town ends with the famous and spectacular run up the staircase of the cathedral dedicated to St. Andrew. The bearers, all dressed in red, run up the majestic run accompanied by the march of Rossini’s Moses in Egypt and cheered on by the crowd of faithful. Reaching the top, the tension melts away in heartfelt applause, involving the whole square, which melts away in the emotion and emotion of greeting the patron.
