Luca Della Bitta, Mayor of Chiavenna, is the new Coordinator of Cittaslow Italia. The three area representatives have been confirmed.
The extraordinary assembly of the Mayors of over 90 Italian Cittaslows, led by President Mauro Migliorini, was held on February 13, 2025, which saw the unanimous election of Luca Della Bitta, Mayor of Chiavenna (SO), new Coordinator of Cittaslow Italia.
The extraordinary assembly became necessary after the resignation of the Coordinator Laura Pernazza, Mayor of Amelia, recently elected Regional Councilor of Umbria, who received thanks from her fellow mayors.
“We have a responsibility - said Della Bitta - to work more and better among ourselves in the Italian Network, to contribute to the cause of Cittaslow also in the international context. Cultivate enthusiasm, network and work together to further and better develop the already large and important experience of Cittaslow in Italy. We are an important force with almost one hundred realities without territorial limits beyond all political affiliations: this allows us to carry forward, also through internal working groups, concrete proposals in favor of our communities and in respect of the planet. We are in fact a model, not only in slow tourism, but in many other areas, through projects and experiences of excellence”.
At the end, the new Coordinator officially confirmed the three area referents: Roland Lazzeri, Mayor of Salorno for northern Italy, Matteo Perazzetti, Mayor of Città Sant’Angelo for the center and Stefano Giaquinto, Mayor of Caiazzo for the south.
In the coming months, the Coordination of Italian Cittaslow will be involved in important actions regarding sustainability (green community etc.) and the accessibility of outdoor trails. Also fundamental will be the promotion of Cittaslow Tourism packages with the patronage and organic participation in the Bergamo Agritravel Expo Fair. And also the
activities in defense of bees, scheduled throughout the year, but with particular attention on May 20, 2025 on the occasion of World Bee Day.
